About Sydney
As a current university student (junior) majoring in biomedical sciences, I have taken many in-depth science classes throughout my academic career that have put my knowledge to the test. In high school, I took multiple honors and AP science classes, such as AP Chem, for which I passed the AP test with a 3. So far, I have passed all my classes with A’s (in both high school and college), and I frequently work with my peers to help them do the same. Additionally, I received several honors and distinctions from both my professors and the school, recognizing my talent and intellect. I am also a TA (teaching assistant) in biology and chemistry at my college, and I love working with people. I have been told that I am personable, approachable, and welcoming, and that I have a gift for connecting with anyone. Ideally, I strive to make the learning experience easy for everyone, and hopefully, by using humor and dialogue with my students, enjoyable too! Ultimately, my passion for the sciences and desire to help others find the same is one of my defining qualities. I’m a science nerd, haha, what can I say?

My focus with students is to help them learn in a fun and engaging way, allowing them to grasp the core concepts but leave with a desire to know more. Even if science isn't your favorite subject, I strive to give you a solid foundation in these topics and how to apply them so that you can walk into your exam (and the world) with confidence. If you prefer online tutoring and are looking for someone passionate about science, then this is the right spot for you!! I am available to teach/tutor the following chemistry classes*: - High School Chemistry (regular and Honors) - AP Chemistry - College General Chemistry I and II - Biochemistry (If your specific class is not listed, but you are still interested, please contact me.) *Note: I received A's in all of these classes* I am available most days and have flexible hours, including evenings (PDT), so contact me for details. My teaching approach: Once I hear from the students what their needs and expectations are related to class specifics, timelines, and topics to focus on, I work with them to cater my lessons to their individual learning styles. I often include humor and dialogue with the students in my approach, such as through funny associations and mnemonics to help them remember the sometimes obscure details of the subject. If students have any problem areas, I am happy to work with them by explaining it further or in a different way, breaking it down into simpler and digestible pieces, and/or using additional resources and practice problems. It's best if students have more specific questions, focus areas, or preexisting resources from their classes to bring to our meetings, but I am happy to work in a more generalized way if these aren't available. Sydney is very smart! I met her in our physics class, and we ended up having several other science classes together. We often studied for exams together, and she was great at explaining the material whenever questions arose. Sydney is very good at breaking down complex concepts in a clear, in-depth way, and she often connects outside knowledge to the class topics to make the material even more understandable.
