About Dani
As a Sport and Exercise Science student and experienced coach, I bring a calm, encouraging, and people-focused approach to every tutoring session. My background as a competitive swimmer and water polo athlete, as well as my work as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and university demonstrator, has taught me how to communicate clearly, stay patient, and support students with a wide range of learning needs. I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor my teaching to each individual—whether they need step-by-step explanations, help preparing for exams, or someone to build their confidence in subjects they find challenging. I value creating a positive, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through concepts at their own pace.

My Approach to Tutoring
I take a student-centred and supportive approach to tutoring, with a focus on building confidence, understanding, and long-term learning skills. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, level, and preferred learning style. I aim to create a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenges at their own pace.
Teaching Techniques
I break complex concepts into clear, manageable steps and use active learning strategies such as guided questioning, practice problems, and real-world examples. Throughout each session, I check understanding and adjust the pace as needed. For assessments and exams, I incorporate structured revision methods, marking criteria, and techniques for planning strong answers.
Lesson Length
Most lessons are 45–60 minutes, with longer sessions available for exam preparation or assignment support.
Qualifications & Experience
I am currently completing a Bachelor of Applied Science (Sport and Exercise Science) and have experience as a university demonstrator, swim instructor, and coach. These roles have strengthened my communication, explanation, and guidance skills.
Who I Teach
I tutor secondary school students (NCEA Levels 1–3) and first-year university students, particularly in sport science, physiology, anatomy, and general study skills. I work with learners aged 13 and up and adapt each session to their needs.
