About Claire

I am an enthusiastic and passionate tutor who firmly believes that language and communication are vital skills that are essential for all learners, whatever their future career aspirations. I believe in providing purposeful and genuine learning experiences that are meaningful to my students. I will support you to develop your knowledge, skills and understanding of the subject matter through careful analysis of your current level and your personal goals. I am dedicated, patient and conscientious and I will help you to develop your confidence and reach your true potential.

About the lesson

I am a qualified Primary School Teacher with over 12 years of classroom experience, mostly in Year 6 – SATs exam Year - in the UK. I am also a CELTA qualified EFL Teacher with over 10 years of experience, teaching both in the UK and in many other countries, such as Japan and Indonesia. I am a dedicated and passionate tutor who is approachable and professional. I strive to ensure that my lessons are personalised to the needs of individual learners. As a SATs Year Teacher, I am well practised in quickly identifying strengths and areas for development and I know exactly how to help you to address tricky elements of learning and to move forward to reach your full potential! My specialism is English Language and Literature. As well as holding a BA Hons Degree in English, I achieved an A in A-Level English. I deliver outstanding English sessions, which incorporate dynamic teaching techniques. I construct high quality lessons that bring together the vital elements of Reading, Writing, Spelling and Grammar in a purposeful and engaging way. I am highly skilled in supporting students to explore a text, delving into the language to fully explore it, considering the vocabulary and writer’s techniques used by the author and engaging in a personal response to support the development of Reading Skills. Together we can further explore the text, using it as a springboard for developing Writing Skills. That said, I am flexible and more than happy to focus on areas that you wish to work on – I create resources and design lessons specific to the needs of my students. I believe that learning should be relevant to you and your future aspirations. I tailor my lessons towards the academic needs of students as well as their personal interests. My bespoke lessons are engaging, purposeful and will support you to make rapid progress towards your goals. I am dedicated to ensuring that my students feel fully supported in their learning so that they are ready to engage in lifelong learning! I teach Key Stages 1 and 2, SATs and 11+ preparation and GCSE English Language and Literature. I am also available to support children with SEN requirements and English as an additional language.
