About Santiago

¡Hola! My name is Santiago, and I'm a native Spanish speaker from Colombia currently studying Culinary Management in Toronto. Teaching Spanish is not only a way for me to share my culture—it's a passion. I believe that learning a language should feel natural, enjoyable, and deeply connected to real-life experiences. With my background in communication, hospitality, and education, I bring a dynamic and supportive teaching style tailored to each student's goals. Whether you're a beginner who wants to build strong foundations, a traveler looking to boost your conversation skills, or a student preparing for exams, I'm here to help. What makes my lessons different is how I combine language, culture, and confidence-building in every session. I create a safe, encouraging space where mistakes are part of learning and progress is always celebrated. I'm patient, organized, and always open to adapting my methods to your needs. If you're looking for someone who truly listens, understands your challenges, and makes learning Spanish fun and meaningful—I'm the tutor for you.

About the lesson

As a native Spanish speaker from Colombia and a Culinary Management student in Toronto, I offer Spanish lessons that go beyond grammar and vocabulary. My approach is interactive, supportive, and culturally rich, designed to make students feel confident and motivated.

Teaching Methodology and Techniques:
I focus on communication and real-life language use. My methodology includes:

Conversational practice based on real scenarios (e.g., ordering food, introducing oneself, traveling)
Interactive activities such as role-plays, vocabulary games, and listening exercises
Visual aids and customized resources based on students’ interests (e.g., food, music, travel, culture)
Clear grammar explanations followed by immediate application through speaking and writing
A Typical Lesson Plan Includes:

A short warm-up in Spanish to activate prior knowledge
Introduction of a topic or skill (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation)
Guided practice through conversation, games, or exercises
Real-life application (mini-dialogue, situation-based task, cultural insight)
Feedback and suggestions for improvement, plus optional take-home practice
What Sets Me Apart:

I bring a warm, patient, and friendly approach that makes students feel at ease
I connect the Spanish language with Latin American culture, especially Colombian traditions and expressions
I understand what it's like to learn a new language in a new country—so I adapt to each student’s pace and goals
As a bilingual tutor (Spanish-English), I can explain complex topics clearly to beginners while offering immersive experiences for advanced learners
Who My Lessons Are For:

Beginners, intermediate, or conversational learners
High school or college students taking Spanish as a subject
Adults looking to travel, work or connect with Spanish-speaking communities
Culinary students or professionals interested in Spanish for hospitality and food service
