My approach to teaching Spanish is based on my life as a Peruvian growing up where everything happened in Spanish. Consequently, a lesson with me would mainly be focused on developing speaking and listening skills, but not limited to those. I hold a TESOL certificate; therefore, my lessons have a pedagogical approach as well.
In college, I took English, Italian, German, and French diction, so I know the IPA. With this knowledge, I will help you start building good pronunciation habits and start getting rid of bad ones. But I will go deeper than that. I will teach you slang words that only a native would know; I will explain how to understand them and all the contexts they're used in; I will help you find the equivalent to a saying in your language in Spanish, and teach you exactly how a native would say it, with the correct intonation, accent, and native expression; I will help you to understand Popular Latin American culture and stop missing out when your Spanish-speaking friends start talking fast about their favorite TV shows with a bunch of actors you don't know or don't understand why they're relevant, or when you're the only one not laughing when somebody tells a joke.
The protagonist in my lessons will be my native background, which I will try to make as contagious as possible!
