About Parin

I’m Parin, a Computer Science sophomore at Texas A&M University in the Engineering Honors program. Math is the foundation of my coursework, and I tutor it the way I learned it best: by solving problems and being able to explain why each step works. Each lesson starts with a concrete example, then moves to the rule behind it. You hold the pencil while I guide with questions, so the reasoning becomes yours and not just something you watched. Having taken these courses recently, I remember which ideas are hardest to grasp and which explanations clear them up. I also use math regularly in my computer science coursework and research, so I can show how it applies beyond the classroom. I’m upfront about my limits: if a question goes beyond what I know well, I will say so and we will work it out together or find a better resource.

I’m Parin, a Computer Science sophomore at Texas A&M University in the Engineering Honors program. My teaching method is built on the idea that you understand math when you can solve a problem and explain why each step works, not when you’ve watched someone else do it. I start with a concrete example, then work backward to the rule behind it. You hold the pencil while I guide with questions like “What do you think happens next, and why?” Before solving, we predict what kind of answer to expect, which helps catch mistakes early. At the end of each topic, you explain the idea back to me in your own words, and we revisit earlier material with short warm-up problems so it sticks.

A typical one-hour lesson starts with a five-minute check-in on what felt confusing, followed by a ten-minute warm-up from a previous session. I then introduce a new concept in about twenty minutes, with you predicting and me prompting. The next twenty minutes are guided practice, where I step in only when you’re stuck. We finish with a five-minute summary and a small practice set for the following session.

What sets me apart is that I took these courses recently, so I remember which ideas were confusing and which explanations helped. I use math regularly in my CS coursework and research work, so I can show how it connects to real applications. I’m also honest about my limits. I’m a sophomore, not a professor, and if a question goes beyond what I know well, I’ll say so and we’ll work it out together or find a better resource.

These lessons are for high school and early undergraduate students working on algebra, precalculus, and introductory college math. They suit learners who feel lost but are willing to practice between sessions. I’m not the right tutor for graduate-level or highly specialized topics.
