About Madison
Hi, I’m Madison, a college student with a background in social sciences and a passion for psychology. I’ve completed an associate’s degree in social sciences and taken a variety of courses in psychology, including child and developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, and general psychology. Through these experiences, I’ve developed a genuine love for understanding how people think, feel, and behave. I know firsthand how overwhelming academic life can feel at times. Throughout my college journey, I’ve faced challenges, setbacks, and moments where certain topics just wouldn’t click. Because of this, I’ve made it a personal goal to help other students feel more confident and supported in their studies. I approach every tutoring session with patience, empathy, and a focus on making psychology easier to understand and apply. As I am starting with tutoring, it might take some time to build a consistent client base, and I'll be developing my unique tutoring style. However, I do have a certification in education, which provides me with a strong foundation in teaching principles and should make it easier for me to find my footing and effectively support my students and peers. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy learning about different areas of social science, listening to music, and exploring new ways to make academic subjects feel more approachable for everyone. Teaching Methods: I believe psychology should be approachable and relevant to everyday life. With a background in social sciences and childhood education, my teaching style focuses on simplifying complex psychological ideas and connecting them to real-world situations. I use clear explanations, relatable examples, and visual tools to help students truly understand the material, not just memorize it. My lessons often include guided discussions, practice questions, and study tips designed around each student’s learning preferences. Typical Lesson Plan: Each session starts with a quick check-in to find out what topics you’d like to focus on and how you’re feeling about the material. Together, we’ll set one or two clear goals for the lesson. I’ll walk you through key concepts, using examples and simple explanations to clarify difficult ideas. We’ll practice applying those concepts to real or hypothetical situations, work through any assignments or questions you have, and finish with a quick review and suggestions for what to tackle next. What Sets Me Apart: As a college student who has experienced many ups and downs in my academic journey, I understand how challenging coursework can be. I’ve faced obstacles and moments of bad mental health, making me patient, encouraging, and committed to meeting students where they are. I create a learning environment that’s comfortable, supportive, and focused on helping you succeed at your own pace. My approach is honest, relatable, and always tailored to what works best for you. Who My Lessons Are For: I offer tutoring for students currently taking psychology courses at the high school or college level. This includes subjects such as general psychology, child and developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, and introductory social sciences. Whether you’re working through a general education requirement, preparing for an exam, or needing extra help making sense of psychological theories and research, my lessons are designed to provide clear, thoughtful support that makes academic success feel achievable.
