About Avery
I am an experienced violin tutor with 7 years of teaching and professional music experience, passionate about guiding students to reach their full potential. I teach violin to school and college students at all levels, from beginners exploring basic techniques to advanced learners preparing for concerts, exams, and competitions.
One of my proudest milestones has been helping students grow from uncertain beginners to confident performers capable of playing with skill, expression, and emotional connection. My teaching focuses on strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also nurturing musical creativity, expression, and interpretation.
I incorporate music theory, sight-reading, and listening exercises to ensure students develop a complete understanding of music. I adapt lessons to each student’s learning style, pace, and goals, creating a supportive, patient, and motivating environment. Teaching violin allows me to inspire students, build confidence, and cultivate a lifelong love of music.

My violin teaching methodology emphasises motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, aiming to develop musicians who are technically skilled, expressive, and confident. Lessons are personalised to the student’s abilities, goals, and interests, balancing structured technical training with creative exploration.
Motivation is at the core. I help students set goals, track progress, and celebrate accomplishments, building perseverance, engagement, and self-confidence. Communication ensures lessons are collaborative and supportive, providing a space for students to ask questions, express challenges, and discuss musical ideas openly.
Creativity is integrated through improvisation, interpretation, and composition exercises, allowing students to develop their unique artistic voice. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice and respect for the craft, forming habits that support long-term growth and success.
In addition to violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and basic piano, giving students a complete musical foundation. This methodology nurtures technical mastery, artistic expression, confidence, and lifelong engagement with music.
