About Ellen
Hi! My name is Ellen. I am a singer-songwriter living in Los Angeles. My music is like Gracie Abrams, Eloise and Olivia Dean had a sad girl baby. I am originally from England, but grew up in Connecticut and lived in Boston, Greece, Cape Town, Sydney, and San Francisco before moving out here. I have performed on stages across the world and spent thousands of hours singing and developing my artistry. I have written hundreds of songs, played in hundreds of shows, and believe lyrics are everything. You can find my music and vocal style on IG and Spotify @ellenmcneill

I tailor my tutoring to each individual client, based on their prior experience and musical preferences. No prior writing experience is necessary! - Fundamentals of songwriting - Tapping into your artistry - Basics of music: scales, chords, keys, progressions - Vocal coaching - Music industry and the experience of being an independent artist in LA - Performing tips and confidence techniques - Your own music goals/career strategy and breaking down how to get there! I believe the best songs are written from the heart, and how we tap into the heart is a skill set on its own. Focused on feeling over templates using structure to channel the most authentic version of each student into their music. We can work on a song you have in the works, or start one together, work on vocal techniques, learn about the composition of a song, or zoom out and discuss the industry, performances, or your music goals. I have worked in the music industry in LA for 4 years while studying art and pursuing my own music, after 10 years of being a musician, so my perspective reflects that. I hope to meet you soon :)
