About Jaya
My goal as a tutor is to encourage my students to ask questions, help them shape and develop their writing while preserving their own voice, and inspire them to build confidence in their skills. I enjoy working with non-native English speakers on improving their proficiency, too.

I have always loved working closely with people of all ages to improve their writing skills. As an undergraduate majoring in literature at Wellesley College, I tutored students in French and Spanish, assisting them with study skills, preparation for presentations and tests, and structuring and editing their essays. After completing my graduate degree in English at Columbia University, I joined Yale University Press, where I have worked for 13 years, and where I am currently an editor. I am available to tutor students in writing and literature on weekends.
