About Isha
I am a second year Geography student at the University of Manchester. Currently, I am a university PASS leader. This involves helping first years, also doing Geography, to achieve higher marks in their exams and coursework. Out of the 8 first year students I have coached since September, nearly all achieved 1st class or 2:1 grades in their January exams. I also have experience tutoring younger kids outside of university. Last summer I tutored a few year 9 students (in Geography and Biology). Each student’s examination grades significantly improved following my help. Moreover, some of my students improved so much that they were moved up a set in certain subjects. During my A-levels, I also participated in the 'Help a Buddy Scheme'. Here I supported a year nine student, who was struggling with her academics, by providing weekly one to one tuition in subjects she found difficult.

Prior to my sessions I do extensive prep on the topics my student is struggling with. During my sessions, I like to break down complicated concepts into smaller and more manageable parts. Often, I use visual aids, flash cards and a range of academic text books to assist me with this. To ensure my students have understood these concepts, I also give them examination questions to do for homework and during class. As a student myself I recognise that each individual has different learning styles. Therefore, I always adapt my teaching methods to suit each of my student’s needs.
