About Elena
I am a Russian-trained concert pianist and piano teacher with more than 23 years of professional teaching and performing experience.
I graduated with honours from the Academic Music College at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. I also completed postgraduate studies at the Gnessin Academy and later taught there as a faculty member.
For over two decades, I have performed throughout Russia and internationally — in philharmonic halls, festivals, and concert tours. My professional work has also included masterclasses, competitions, and jury work across Europe, Asia, and South America.
As a chamber musician, I am a First Prize winner of the Salieri-Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition in Verona, Italy, and the Max Reger International Chamber Music Competition in Karlsruhe, Germany. I have also recorded two chamber music CDs for the Russian classical label Melodiya.
Within chamber music, I developed a specialization in classical saxophone repertoire, from traditional works to contemporary music, collaborating with leading Russian and European classical saxophonists.
As a teacher, I have worked with serious adult learners, motivated teenagers, advanced young musicians, international and diplomatic families, and students from very different cultural and educational backgrounds. This experience taught me how to make complex musical ideas clear without flattening their artistic depth.
My teaching is rooted in the Russian piano tradition. For me, this tradition is not a slogan, but a practical artistic discipline: depth of sound, serious listening, technical clarity, musical imagination, and the ability to turn musical intention into real sound at the keyboard.
I help students connect the score, the ear, the hand, the body, and the imagination, so that technique becomes a path to musical expression rather than a set of mechanical exercises.
My aim is to make artistic depth teachable: to help students build independence and play with accuracy, control, freedom, and beauty of sound.

For pianists who can play the notes — but know that the music is not truly speaking yet.
I work with serious adults, advanced amateurs, returning pianists, motivated teenagers, and students preparing for AMEB, ABRSM, Trinity, auditions, exams, or performances.
A piece may be nearly ready and still not sound convincing. The sound does not carry. The phrase is correct, but remains flat. Rhythm and memory may feel secure at home, but become unreliable under pressure. Practice takes time, yet the same problems return.
Very often, this is not a lack of effort. It is a lack of a professional map.
The free introductory lesson on Superprof is used to discuss your goals, current level, format, and whether this kind of work is the right fit. The first full working lesson is diagnostic: I assess how your playing works now, what is already strong, where progress is being blocked, and what needs to change first for the playing to become freer, deeper, more expressive, and more reliable.
After this diagnostic work, you receive a concise written Piano Skill Map: your main strengths, key musical and technical obstacles, priority areas for improvement, and a clear direction for further development.
My background is in the Russian professional performance tradition, where sound, phrase, form, and physical freedom are central to playing. In my lessons, that level of musical thinking is translated into precise, practical work at the piano.
I do not simply polish pieces. I help students understand why the music is not becoming sound yet — and how to build the connection between hearing, movement, score understanding, practice, and artistic expression.
The goal is a more professional way to hear, think, practise, and play — so that the student does not only prepare pieces, but becomes a stronger, freer, and more convincing musician.

As a parent, I was especially struck by how Elena taught my son to think, not just to repeat. Practice became more organised, more conscious, and far less dependent on constant external prompting. He began to understand what he was trying to achieve and how to work towards it. That change in independence was, for me, just as important as the improvement in his playing.
Elena helped me understand harmony not as an abstract theory subject, but as something one can actually hear and feel inside the music. Gradually I began to recognise harmonic movement as a changing sequence of colours, tensions, arrivals, and releases. This transformed both my interpretation and my practice, because I was no longer moving blindly from bar to bar.
One of the most valuable things I learned with Elena was how to memorise music intelligently. I had always relied on mechanical repetition, which made performance stressful and unreliable. She showed me how to build memory through structure, harmony, physical logic, and active listening. As a result, memorising became much faster, much calmer, and far more secure.
Elena combines discipline with imagination in a way that is very rare. She is precise, but never dry. She helps the student understand the inner logic of the music, shape a phrase naturally, and play with far more meaning and freedom.
As a parent, I valued above all the clarity and direction Elena brought to my daughter’s lessons. We had previously met teachers who were pleasant and encouraging, but the work often felt loose and inconsistent. With Elena, there was immediately a stronger sense of structure, purpose, and long-term development. My daughter became not only more technically secure, but also more attentive, more musically aware, and much more independent in her practice.
What impressed me most was the level of seriousness Elena brings to online teaching. There is nothing casual or superficial in her approach. She listens with extraordinary attention, notices the smallest details, and always connects them to a larger artistic idea. Even through a screen, the lessons feel concentrated, exacting, and deeply alive. She expects real thought from the student, and that expectation itself raises the level of the work.
I came to Elena as an adult student with previous experience, but also with many unresolved technical habits and a rather fragmented way of working. She immediately understood both the musical and physical reasons behind the problems. Her lessons are structured, demanding, and extremely perceptive, yet never mechanical. She does not simply correct mistakes — she reorganises the student’s whole understanding. That is a rare quality, and it is the reason I have made more serious progress with her than with teachers I worked with for much longer
Elena is not the kind of teacher who simply helps a student get through pieces from one week to the next. What makes her work unusual is the way she builds musicianship from within. Technique, sound, reading, coordination, structure, and expression are never treated as separate problems, but as parts of one coherent musical language. This changed the way I practise and the way I listen. For the first time, I felt that piano study was becoming intellectually clear, artistically meaningful, and truly connected.
