About Ray
Hello lovely learning humans! My name is Ray. I have a BSc in Entomology & Geography, a BSc Honours in Geography, a TEFL level 5 and a PGCE in SP: Natural Sciences & FET: Geography. I first fell in love with teaching and tutoring in 2017 when I began tutoring undergraduate geography students whilst completing my honours. I then started tutoring school-aged children in 2019. Last year I completed my PGCE whilst working full time as a grade 8 and 9 Life Sciences and Geography teacher. This year I am also teaching grade 10s at the same school. I still privately tutor grade 11 maths too.

I follow an inquiry-based and student-centred approach to learning where I facilitate the learning process rather than just dictating knowledge. I tailor my lessons, in English, to the cognitive and social needs of my student(s), ensuring that my teaching style is best suited to the learning style. In my lessons I typically want to begin with finding out what you already know and then spend the majority of the time building up from that base, ending of with a recap. I have years of experience with school-going students (ages 6-17) and university students (1st year-honours).
