About Daniel
I'm a recent PhD Religious Studies graduate from McGill University, the top-ranked university in Canada, and have a Master's Degree in Classics from Dalhousie University. I am a published author and editor of academic journals, and a specialist in Ancient Greek philosophy, theology, and language. I have a friendly, patient, easy going personality and enjoy nothing more than imparting my love of ancient Greek philosophy and Byzantine Orthodox theology to students.

My philosophy and/or theology tutoring sessions are tailored to the needs of each individual student. I begin by meeting with prospective students to discuss what their learning goals are and then design a curriculum to best meet those goals. I am a specialist in Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, as well as Greek and Byzantine theologians from Origen and Gregory of Nyssa, to Maximus Confessor and Gregory Palamas.
In addition to offering tutoring, I also offer extended learning packages based on the close reading of ancient philosophical and Eastern Orthodox theological texts. I am especially interested in sharing my knowledge of topics such as metaphysics, ethics, asceticism, mysticism, liturgy, theology of icons, Philokalia, and Church history and doctrine.

I was in grad school with Daniel for many years for an MA in Classics and his PhD in religious studies. In that time we've talked about a lot of things he knows - Buddhism, Greek philosophy, Church history, Russian mysticism, paper-writing, academic life, carpentry - both his expertises and life experiences are impossibly broad.
I've only ever been Daniel's rival, never formally his student. But few scholars or conversation partners are like him. Patient, attentive, humble, enthusiastic about learning... in other words, he is a great teacher. I admire him so much that I hate him, and I envy his students that they have no reason to hate him.
