About Jake
My name is Jake. I am currently taking a gap year after completing my A-Levels before going on to university to study mechanical engineering, a subject in which maths is very important. During my gap year, I would like to take the opportunity to use the understanding I have gained during my time in A-Levels to assist other students. I hope that this will prevent the students I teach from feeling that their mathematical ability is holding them back from taking the options that they want to take, whilst simultaneously keeping my own mathematical knowledge up to scratch during my year out.

When teaching topics, I always try to explain the underlying reasons behind a concept as this approach allows students to more fully understand the topic and apply this foundational knowledge to other topics in the future. I have recently completed my A-Levels and I am therefore very familiar with the topics covered in both the GCSE and A-Level courses. If a student wishes to address particular questions, I will happily go through and explain them. I have a lot of experience in this due to the many past papers I completed whilst studying for my A-Levels. Equally, if a student wishes to improve on a specific topic I am happy to find appropriate questions and guide them through them in order to improve their understanding.
