About Rory
I am a Composer, specialising in cross cultural collaborative approach notational form. I am a highly experienced Bass Guitar player. Before choosing to study composition, I was offered a place (with partial scholarship) to study under Steve Bailey, and Victor Wooten at the Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts. However I could not afford the fees so chose to study music composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where I have just recently graduated with 1st Class Honours. My thesis topic was about the Alternative Music Venue scene on Sydney. I conducted 12 interviews and 5 case studies into venues such as Carriageworks and 107 Projects.

I specialise in you, it's all about what you want to get out of the instrument. I teach theory and traditional approach to the instrument, but I like to pepper up the dull stuff with history and fun stories about the Bass Guitar and its many eccentric players.
If there is a particular player, style, or Genre that you would like to emulate I can give you the tools necessary to put you on the right path to achieving your goals. I also like to teach creativity in my approach, because I believe it's boring just learning theory and practising all the time. There are many elements of music as a whole that aren't about rote learning scales and terms. The most successful musicians develop their own creative flare and unique relationships with their instruments.
