About Dekye
My name is Dekye Dawa. I'm a third-year student at the University of California San Diego, majoring in International Business Studies. I am mixed being both Mexican and Vietnamese, which led me to being trilingual. I dedicated 18 years of my life (preschool to high school) learning Spanish which makes me a native speaker. Through years of practice, learning, and passing a variety of exams, I have earned my Seal of Biliteracy certificate. I am ready to help out other students to succeed in learning the Spanish language as well as grow as a student!

A typical lesson plan would consist of firstly going through what the student needs help with and then working on the assignment. For example, if it is a reading passage and the student does not understand what they are reading, we could incorporate a variety of methods such as a context clue technique so they can figure out the words and understand the passage better. This is important so the student is not reliant on using the internet but instead could figure out a certain word they do not understand themselves. Though that is an example, it depends on what the student is working on or needs help with. The lessons would be for students from elementary school or college students learning Spanish for the first time.
