About Lisa
I currently work as a reading specialist at an elementary school. I work with students who are not reading at grade level. I have over 10 years of experience teaching reading and 10 years of classroom teaching experience. I have taught grades 1 - 5. When I first started teaching, I didn't know how to teach reading or how to help students who struggled with reading. To help develop my skills, I enrolled in a program that specialized in reading. It was through this program that I earned my reading specialist credential. On top of teaching reading, I am currently working on implementing a structured literacy program at my school for grades 1 - 2. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, snowboarding, ultimate frisbee, running, swimming, cooking, baking, reading and gardening.
