About Naeem
Qualified teacher status teaching in inner London. I have an engineering background from Queen Mary University. Completed my training through Birmingham City University to qualify as a teacher. My induction year was completed in 2014 for me to get newly qualified status.

To promote quality mathematics discussions, students need to understand why discourse is important.
I give my students lots of reassurance that although it can be unnerving to participate in discussions about mathematics, it is beneficial to their learning! Establishing a learning environment that welcomes student involvement is the key to engaging students in discourse.
Modeling, reasoning, and problem solving are the goals of higher order thinking in the math classroom. Not only are the modern open response questions on high-stakes tests focused on these areas, but they are also one way that students can become engaged in math. Rich contextual problems help students see why math is important and answer the question: “Why are we learning this?”
