About Nicole
I have an Honours degree in Sport Science and a Post graduate Teaching Certificate from the the University of Stellenbosch.
I have one year of formal teaching experience at high school level, in 2019, mostly focussing on grade 8 and 9 Maths.
I have done a limited amount of after school maths tutoring and tutoring at grade R level.

Introduction:
I think it's important to get to know my students a little bit in the beginning. This will make the tutoring space more comfortable and fun which will facilitate learning.
Prior knowledge:
I will need to assess what my student already knows and what they are interested in. Then I will have a starting point to build from and I will also be able to incorporate some of my student's interests into the lesson. Hopefully, this will help them to be more engaged and to remember the content better.
Understanding is key!
I always aim to promote understanding by describing the bigger picture and by asking questions, allowing the student to get to the answer on their own. Having a good understanding of the subject content will help them to apply their knowledge to any question or situation.
Empowering:
I believe that it is important to teach my student the skills they need to approach different situations, such as learning a difficult concept. These skills are transferable and will help them in different spheres of their lives, ultimately contributing to their holistic development.
