Methodoly depends on individual students and needs. Therefore the 1st session would be used to assess the student's requirements, needs what they are looking to achieve and their overall academic abilities. Once I have gathered enough data the following approach would be used:
Repetition is one of the strategies I have used and I have seen how much impact it has on pupil's improvement in knowledge and comprehension.
Modelling: clear modelling is another methodology that I use in every lesson. This approach enables the student to be able to clear see the steps taken one by one and how to avoid making unnecessary mistakes. Regularly testing similarly to the above two approaches is an approach that I use in my teaching as it allows me to see the gaps in knowledge, misconception as well as being able to see the progress being made thereby informing future learning. Additionally. I also believe in learning through manipulation, linking maths to everyday life as well as discussion and most importantly problem solving.
