About Harriet
I am passionate about enabling each child reach their potential and take a very child centred, holistic approach to tutoring. With this focus on the individual child, all sessions are tailored to them and their learning style. With creative methods I aim to foster children's innate desire to learn and enable them to reach their potential. Along with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of child development and how children learn, I have many years experience teaching children from age 2 to 11, specifically tutoring the 4-8 age range in English (creative writing, handwriting development, phonics and reading). I am highly conscientious, reliable and enthusiastic about making learning a fun, memorable experience. I have a Montessori International teaching diploma as well as a PGCert in early years teaching and EYTS which led me to teach in schools and manage an early years setting. I am DBS checked and have a first aid certificate as well as level 2 in safeguarding. I have worked with children for over 14 years, taught in various settings and recently managed a preschool which last year was rated by Ofsted as Outstanding. I also teach undergraduates taking BA education studies and BA primary education, as well as MA students in education.

Harriet helped with my 3 and 4 year olds for an hour each week, helping them to progress towards starting to write and read. Harriet's approach is very holistic, patient and gentle and my children enjoyed their fun sessions with her and made good progress. They made storybooks, undertook fun exercises to help develop fine motor skills and Harriet gave us plenty of support and advice on books and other materials. We are still in touch and she continues to take an interest and be very helpful.
