Specifically, it was an interesting challenge when turning in any writing or research I had done for discussions, as it always proved difficult, in an academically positive way, to fully defend my work for Ben, as he would find ways or approaches to push me to greater expertise on a topic. This made our time together extremely valuable, as our lessons never bogged down in a simple explanation of the topic, but instead into sophisticated deep-rooted and structural-level understanding even to the point of knowing why a topic is taught in a specific way.
