About Justine

I am a Bachelor of Arts/Music graduate with 10+ years of experience in music. I specialise in piano, but have experience in various other instruments such as flute (16 years), reed woodwinds, recorder and voice. I have performed extensively over the years as a soloist and part of many groups/ensembles, and have competition experience where I achieved 2nd place on more than one occasion. I am also a freelance recording artist with experience as a music producer and sound engineer. Despite my qualifications and experience, I greatly appreciate learning more about my craft along the way with my students! The most important thing to know about my teaching style is that it is predominantly centred around enjoyment, positivity, encouragement, and ambition for students to reach their goals and improve their skills.

About the lesson

Positive energy is most important to me regarding my students and their lesson experience. My aim for lessons is to make you feel supported and encouraged, while pushing you to the best of your ability to achieve your goals. I am very open to students learning at their own pace in a comfortable and feel-good environment where students are not limited in any way, shape or form. My main goal is to improve your skills, but also to challenge your creativity and allow you to shape your own voice through musical expression, and of course, to experience as much enjoyment as possible! These lessons will cover the basic principles of music theory, music notation and music reading skills. This will include - but is not limited to - the traditional classical approach to mastering music analysis and composition, as well as how these basics can be used in a modernised setting.
