About Mimi
I'm a recent graduate from Royal Holloway, University of London, where I studied English and Classics. I’ve always had a passion for language, literature, and helping others engage with texts in a deeper, more meaningful way. As a tutor, I take a friendly and supportive approach, aiming to build a relaxed and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable and confident. I believe that learning should be tailored to each individual, and I strive to adapt my teaching style to suit every student's unique needs and pace. My goal is not only to help students improve their academic performance, but also to help them enjoy the learning process and feel proud of their progress. During my degree, I learned how to critically engage with texts and works of art by developing a more nuanced and thoughtful approach to interpretation. Rather than simply agreeing or disagreeing with an argument or perspective, I was taught to apply a third, more analytical lens — one that opens up a text to deeper questioning and richer possibilities. This is what I love most about English and Classics: they teach us to interrogate the seemingly fixed, to look beyond the surface, and to see structure not as rigid, but as something open to exploration and reinterpretation. It's a powerful skill — one that not only deepens our understanding of literature, but can also be applied to many areas of life. Developing this critical mindset is something I’m passionate about teaching, as I believe it’s key to both academic and personal growth

I believe that every student learns differently, which is why I take a personalised, student-focused approach to tutoring. My lessons are tailored to suit the individual needs, pace, and goals of each learner, ensuring they gain confidence and understanding in every session. I offer 60-minute tutoring sessions and currently specialise in English Literature at GCSE level and below. I have spent the past year working one-on-one with two GCSE students, helping them improve their analytical skills, essay writing, and overall comprehension. I'm now looking to expand my tutoring services to support more students on their learning journey.
