About Vickie
My name is Vickie Hourigan and I am Australian. I trained as an Early Childhood teacher, but throughout my teaching career I have gained skills also in teaching General Primary, Special Education, English as a Second Language and Reading Recovery - in which struggling readers learn the basics of how words work in order to progress further on their reading journey. I have also had experience with face-to-face tutoring and some online English instruction. After my retirement I moved to Bali where I currently live. I have volunteered in some charity work and every day converse with the locals to improve their English. As my visa prohibits me to work on a retirement visa I am seeking to do some online tutoring as I dearly miss the opportunity to enrich students' learning and lives. I sincerely hope my extensive teaching skills may be put to good use as I am excited about the prospect of once again meeting some new eager learners. Once a teacher always a teacher, and I look forward to the opportunity to continue my love of teaching!

My lessons are individually based on achievement, assessment, progress and needs. My students are encouraged to ask questions and attempt tasks with confidence and enjoyment. The focus is on individual achievements and progress rather than having to strive to achieve academic goals. My lessons are fun and enjoyable in a positive learning environment where positive reinforcement for all genuine attempts is a priority.
