About Sharleen
My name is Jade Jansen, and I am passionate about helping students learn and understand Afrikaans. I know that Afrikaans can feel difficult, intimidating, or frustrating — especially at school — because I’ve seen how many learners struggle when lessons move too fast or explanations aren’t clear.
I am interested in teaching Afrikaans because I believe everyone can improve when they are taught with patience, understanding, and encouragement. I enjoy breaking work down into simple steps, using everyday examples, and helping students feel confident enough to ask questions without fear of judgment.
Teaching Afrikaans allows me to support learners not only to improve their marks, but also to build confidence in themselves. Seeing a student go from “I don’t get this” to “I can do this” is what motivates me the most.

My Afrikaans lessons are different because I don’t just teach the language — I teach it in a way students actually understand. I explain things slowly, clearly, and without making learners feel embarrassed for asking questions. Every lesson is adjusted to your level, your pace, and your goals, whether that’s passing exams, improving marks, or finally feeling confident speaking Afrikaans.
I focus on real understanding, not just memorising rules. I use simple examples, everyday language, and practical exercises so Afrikaans starts to make sense instead of feeling confusing or stressful. I’m patient, supportive, and committed to helping students grow — not just academically, but in confidence too.
My goal is simple: to make Afrikaans easier, less scary, and more achievable for every learner.
