About Elizabeth
**Only 2 spots remaining for Semester 2!**
Hi, I'm Elizabeth, a passionate (and very friendly!) tutor in English, Literature, and English & Literature Extension, who specialises in helping students achieve their academic goals by understanding the marking criteria. I am currently studying English Lit at the University of Queensland, where I was the recipient of the 2025 Lizzie Heal-Warry Prize for Literature.
I graduated with a 96+ ATAR and achieved 99% overall in English & Literature Extension, including 100% on both the IA3 and External Exam. Alongside this, I received over 95% in all of my subjects. Since then, I've continued to deepen that knowledge at a university level to not only achieve incredible results but to teach exactly how I achieved them.
One of my proudest achievements has been being personally invited back to my high school to work directly with current English & Literature Extension students. During these sessions, I helped them refine their responses with detailed, criteria-based feedback. Being trusted with that role says as much about my results in the subject as it does about my ability to actually teach it.
Literature Extension in particular is a highly challenging subject. It requires you to think conceptually, engage with complex theoretical ideas, and craft highly controlled, original arguments — all while meeting very specific (and often quite subtle) marking criteria.
These same skills carry over into my teaching of other English subjects too, calibrated to the demands of the subject.
• I don't just know literary theory: I can break it down into clear, usable ideas you can actually apply under exam conditions
• I've studied QCAA subject reports and marking guides in detail, so instead of guessing what markers want, you'll know exactly what they're rewarding
• I can show you precisely what separates a good response from an A+ answer AND give you the tools to close that gap
Just as importantly, I'm known for being warm, approachable, and genuinely supportive. My lessons are designed to feel calm and collaborative — no chance of a scary tutor!

If you've ever thought:
”I understand the text, but I don't know how to make my ideas sound sophisticated."
Or "My essay is good... but I don't understand why it's not quite hitting the top marks.”
That's exactly what I help with. Every lesson is tailored to what you specifically need to feel confident — whether that's understanding the theory, structuring an argument, or refining your prose at the sentence level.
Every lesson is tailored to the individual student. Depending on where you're at, we might focus on:
* Building nuanced arguments rather than surface-level analysis
* Integrating literary theory in a way that feels natural and purposeful (Literature/Lit Ext)
* Developing the essay-writing control needed for top-band responses
* Unseen analysis and external exam preparation
* IA1, IA2 & IA3 — developing, refining, and perfecting your assignment
* Understanding QCAA marking criteria in depth, so you know exactly what's separating a B from an A
I bring both a top ATAR and numerous English prizes to my teaching, along with two-plus years of tutoring experience; I know what the top band actually looks like, and how to help you get there.
What past students have said:
"You helped me get my first ever A in English!"
"You have no idea how much your feedback has helped on my IA3."
"You are a lifesaver."
"Elizabeth really helped me improve my Literature head-and-shoulders above what it would have been."
I also offer detailed written feedback on English, Literature, and English & Literature Extension assignments (including IA3), with in-depth marking and annotations — reach out for details.
If you're aiming for top marks, or just want to feel more confident and in control of your writing, send me a message and let's talk about how I can help!
