About Margot

Hi you! I’m Margot, a Research Assistant at Anglia Ruskin University and a recent MSc Social Psychology graduate from the University of Kent (UK), where I achieved a Distinction. I also hold a BSc in Psychology (2:1) from Université Paris Nanterre. Currently, I’m applying for PhD programmes, and in the meantime, I enjoy tutoring to share my passion for psychology and help students succeed.

Feel free to check out my LinkedIn profile (Margot Lefevre, mar.lefevre1) for more information about my academic and professional background.

Throughout my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I frequently supported my peers—particularly in statistics (in which I scored 86%), academic writing, and presentations. I’m confident explaining complex concepts in a clear, accessible way, and I offer tailored support based on each student's needs.

Statistics tools & methods:
* RStudio, Jamovi, JASP
* ANOVA, t-tests, CFA
* Descriptive statistics, data visualisation, and more

My favourite topics include:
* Gender equality communication
* Intergroup relations
* Feminism and polarisation
* Public policy, campaigns, and behaviour change interventions

Hope to meet you soon!

Before the lesson:
Please email me the topic you'd like help with (e.g., ANOVA, APA formatting, etc.) so I can prepare in advance. It’s also helpful if you can share any relevant school/university materials you’re struggling with — we’ll review these together during our session.

* Clear explanations of complex concepts
* Essay feedback with constructive, actionable advice
* Help with coursework, statistical analysis, dissertation, and academic writing

Crash Courses Available!
If you need to prep fast for an upcoming test or exam, I offer intensive crash courses on key topics in Social Psychology, Statistics, and Cognitive Psychology tailored to your needs and timeline.

First session includes:
* A discussion of your goals and academic challenges
* An informal needs assessment
* A personalised tutoring plan and scheduling

Final Tip:
Don’t forget to look after yourself—get good sleep, eat well, and take breaks. Academic success starts with self-care!

Details

For detailed written feedback on essays or dissertations, I kindly ask that you book additional hour(s) in addition to our live session. Providing thorough and constructive feedback usually requires between 30 minutes and up to 2/3 hours, depending on the length and complexity of the work.

Please note that coding for specific projects or reviewing qualitative data can be more time-consuming and may require additional hours beyond this estimate to ensure thorough, accurate support.

This allows me to offer personalised, high-quality assistance tailored to your needs.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

    I developed a deep interest in Psychology when I began observing increased polarization on social media about topics like feminism, climate change, and politics. My journey into tutoring began after completing my master's degree, initially as a supplementary income source. Soon, I realized tutoring allowed me to support students who, like myself during my studies, needed encouragement and clear, jargon-free explanations, particularly in statistics, which many psychology students find challenging.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

    My favourite part of teaching Psychology is probably the statistics, as it seems very inaccessible for many, while it is not. I believe that anyone can excel in statistics if provided with the right support and guidance. I also really enjoy helping students with their essay/dissertation writing as I myself aspire in doing a PhD.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

    Dr Natalie Mestry really inspired me during my Erasmus year at Bournemouth University. Coming from a French university, I struggled initially with statistics and research methods due to curriculum differences. She was always very patient and clear when explaining complex concepts and was always willing to go the extra mile to help me understand everything.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    At the risk of sounding cliché, patience. Sometimes students ask me the question over and over again, or submit work to me without always applying my advices/feedback, but the key is to stay patient because students are here to learn.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

    My master's dissertation supervisor's first name was Robbie, so we would call our meetings "Margot Robbie" on Teams (his idea!), which still makes me laugh. Learning doesn't always have to be serious.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

    Remembering things, and it's normal. Psychology is such a dense field, like every other, it's normal not to be able to remember every study/paper we read; the key is to know where to find the information efficiently.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

    I love climbing, I was a climbing instructor before becoming a tutor, and that's where I got my first experience in teaching.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

    The fact that I believe in my students. I believe they can achieve great things, even if sometimes they can feel insecure about their own skills. They took the first step by reaching out to me, and I feel honoured to have the opportunity to help them take the next ones.
