My approach is student-centered and tailored to meet the individual needs of each student. I believe in fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions, share their thoughts, and take risks in their learning journey.
My teaching methodology is based on a blend of traditional teaching techniques and modern pedagogical approaches. I begin by assessing the student's strengths, weaknesses, and learning style to create a personalized learning plan. I encourage active participation and critical thinking during my classes, employing open-ended questions and discussions to stimulate analytical skills and encourage students to articulate their thoughts effectively. I also use formative assessments throughout the lessons to gauge understanding and adapt my teaching strategies accordingly.
For KS2-KS4 students, I typically conduct 40 minutes to hour-long tutoring sessions. I find this duration strikes a balance between covering the necessary material and maintaining students' focus and engagement.
I hold a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), which attests to my training and expertise in education. Having worked as a primary teacher, I have a strong foundation in curriculum development, instructional planning, and classroom management.
My experience as a primary teacher has allowed me to develop essential skills in differentiation, enabling me to cater to the varying abilities and learning styles of students. This experience has also honed my ability to build rapport with students and establish a supportive learning environment.
I aim to teach students across Key Stages 2 to 4 (ages 7 to 16). With my background in primary education, I have a deep understanding of the foundational concepts required for success in Maths and English, making me particularly adept at supporting KS2 students. Moreover, my experience in working with older students in Key Stages 3 and 4 allows me to provide the necessary guidance and challenge for their academic growth and examination preparation.
