About Isla
I developed a passion for programming early, fascinated by how logical steps could transform into functional software. This led me to pursue a B.Sc in Computer Science and an M.Sc in Software Engineering, equipping me with a strong foundation in both theory and application. Over 10 years, I have taught students across multiple levels, helping them strengthen technical knowledge, logical reasoning, and coding confidence.
My teaching approach is student-centred, emphasising interactive exercises, applied problem-solving, project-based learning, and structured guidance. I encourage curiosity, experimentation, and independent thinking, ensuring students not only learn coding techniques but also understand the reasoning behind them.
Outside teaching, I stay engaged with emerging technologies, software development trends, and new programming tools. Integrating these insights into my lessons allows students to connect learning to practical, real-world applications. Watching students grow from tentative beginners to capable, confident coders is deeply rewarding and continues to motivate my dedication to teaching programming.

My programming lessons are crafted to make coding both understandable and exciting. I cover programming fundamentals, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, debugging, software design, and applied projects. Each lesson combines interactive explanations, step-by-step guidance, hands-on exercises, and real-world examples to build confidence, foster analytical thinking, and encourage independent problem-solving. Students are supported in experimenting with code, learning from mistakes, and gradually developing practical expertise.
For beginners, lessons focus on variables, loops, conditional statements, functions, and small projects to build foundational skills. Intermediate learners work on algorithms, structured programming, modular design, file handling, and medium-scale projects to strengthen logic and efficiency. Advanced learners explore advanced algorithms, API integration, optimisation, project planning, and coding interview preparation. Each session emphasises practical application, reasoning support, and continuous reinforcement to ensure mastery.
Programming education develops logical reasoning, analytical thinking, creativity, and persistence. Students learn to approach problems methodically, build solutions step by step, and gain confidence in their coding abilities. My goal is to empower learners to become independent programmers capable of applying knowledge in meaningful, real-world contexts while nurturing curiosity and enthusiasm for technology.
