About Hamza
Hello! I’m Hamza, a professional theatre director, movement director and educator based in London. I work across some of the UK’s leading theatres, including the Lyric Hammersmith, Bush Theatre, Birmingham Rep, National Theatre Studios and Kiln Theatre. I am also an Associate Artist with the National Youth Theatre, where I have worked as Assistant Movement Tutor on the Playing Up programme and Assistant Movement Director for its final performance. Alongside my professional practice, I regularly teach in schools, universities and community settings, helping young people develop confidence, creativity and performance skills.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Drama and Theatre Studies from Royal Holloway, University of London and an MA in Movement: Directing and Teaching from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I have also continued my professional development through directing training at Birkbeck and an intensive with Katie Mitchell at RCSSD.
What I enjoy most about teaching is seeing students surprise themselves. Whether someone is preparing for a drama school audition, working towards a LAMDA exam or simply taking their first steps into acting, my goal is to create a supportive environment where they feel confident to explore, ask questions and take creative risks.
Outside of teaching, I continue to direct productions and collaborate with artists across the UK. Remaining an active practitioner allows me to bring current industry practice, fresh ideas and real world experience into every lesson.

Every student is different, so every lesson begins with understanding your goals. Whether you’re preparing for drama school auditions, working towards a LAMDA exam, studying GCSE or A Level Drama, or simply looking to become a more confident actor, I tailor sessions to help you progress in a way that works for you.
My teaching combines professional rehearsal techniques with a collaborative and supportive approach. I believe the best learning begins with curiosity. Rather than simply giving answers, I encourage students to ask questions, experiment and discover what works for them. Curiosity is one of the most powerful tools an actor can develop, and real progress comes when creativity is supported by clear structure and practical technique.
As a professional theatre director, I spend my working life collaborating with actors, analysing text, shaping performances and telling stories. This gives me a different perspective from many acting tutors. I can help students understand not only how to perform well, but how directors approach rehearsals, auditions and character development.
Alongside my directing work, I have extensive experience as an educator. I began as a Drama Teaching Assistant at the British International School Phuket and now regularly deliver workshops in primary and secondary schools through Stand Up! Education Against Discrimination. I am also Lead Facilitator for Arrive Build Create at the Kiln Theatre, working with secondary school and college students, and have facilitated workshops for organisations including LUNG Theatre, Dante or Die, Peut Être Dance Theatre and SOLT’s TheatreCraft Festival. These experiences have given me the confidence to adapt my teaching to students of all ages, abilities and learning styles.
Lessons are suitable for beginners through to professional actors, and for children, teenagers and adults. Above all, my aim is to create a supportive environment where students feel challenged, enjoy the process of learning and leave each lesson with greater confidence in themselves and their work.
