About Shantia
Music has been my passion from a young age, and sharing that love for music through teaching piano is a true privilege. I believe that learning an instrument should be a fun, creative, and empowering experience. My goal is to help each student build confidence, develop strong technical skills, and discover their unique musical voice. I hold a degree in Music and have achieved Grade 8 in Piano, alongside over 15 years of piano-playing experience. I am also proud to have earned the prestigious Gold RSCM Award in Singing. My musical journey has included performing with my city’s choir for nine years, touring both nationally and internationally, and playing the piano for audiences across various cities. With four years of teaching experience, I specialise in beginner piano lessons for children and adults alike. I create a supportive, positive environment where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity and overcome challenges without fear of making mistakes. As an Enhanced DBS-checked teacher, I prioritise creating a safe and nurturing space for students to thrive. My teaching approach is always tailored to individual needs, ensuring lessons are engaging, structured, and personalised to suit each student’s learning style and goals.

Lessons: From the very first lesson, I take the time to get to know you and your unique learning style. I ask questions about how you prefer to learn and tailor lessons based on your goals and progress. My teaching approach is flexible yet structured and consistent—always with an emphasis on making learning fun and engaging. Whether you’re a complete beginner or starting fresh, you’ll find a supportive environment to grow and thrive. What You’ll Achieve: With my lessons, you will: Build confidence in your abilities. Master essential piano techniques. Progress significantly, developing both technical and musical skills. Mistakes are a natural part of learning, and in our one-to-one lessons, you don’t have to worry about feeling embarrassed. My goal is to create a safe space where you can explore, experiment, and overcome challenges with my guidance and encouragement. The First Lesson: Our first lesson will be all about getting to know you! We’ll discuss your goals and what you hope to achieve with piano lessons. I’ll introduce you to beginner-level exercises, helping you feel comfortable with the piano and prepare for upcoming lessons. The session will be interactive, fun, and designed to set a strong foundation for your musical journey. Availability: I offer lessons Monday to Friday, with some weekend availability. Location: - Derby In-person lessons take place at my home, providing a comfortable and supportive learning environment. Qualifications and Experience: Degree in Music. Grade 8 in Piano.
