About Tom
I am a professional pianist and keyboard player with a long-standing career as a performer and teacher. I have been working as a professional musician since 2006 and hold a music degree with a 2:1 classification. Much of my career was spent performing and teaching in London, and I have recently relocated to Shadoxhurst.
I enjoy helping pupils develop confidence, musical understanding, and a genuine connection with the instrument. Teaching is something I value deeply, particularly the shared sense of progress and camaraderie that develops over time. I take a thoughtful, encouraging approach to lessons and aim to create a positive and inspiring environment in which pupils feel supported and motivated to grow musically.

My lessons focus on long-term musical understanding, confidence, and steady progress. I am a professional pianist and keyboard player with a music degree and over twenty years of experience performing and teaching, having worked full-time as a professional musician since 2006.
Lessons are typically one hour and suitable for adults and children of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players. Teaching is structured and methodical while remaining creative and enjoyable. Classical and jazz piano form the core of my teaching, with opportunities to explore pop, improvisation, chord playing, sight reading, and music theory.
I am particularly passionate about musical theory and enjoy helping pupils understand how music works, not just how to play notes. Exams can provide a helpful starting framework, but pupils are encouraged over time to follow the musical path that inspires them most. Each lesson is tailored to support musical growth, confidence, and a positive, collaborative learning experience.
