About Advay

Hi, I am Advay I love teaching dance because I've seen what it does for people. Dance is one of the few activities that works your body and brain at the same time. You're remembering sequences, staying on rhythm, coordinating with a partner and reacting in the moment. Research links this kind of movement to better memory, coordination and long-term brain health, and it's a great workout that doesn't feel like one.

What moves me most is the confidence it builds. I've watched students who were too shy to make eye contact become people who walk onto a dance floor and own it. That change carries into the rest of their lives, and helping someone get there is why I teach.

How I teach
Every lesson follows the same structure: a warm-up and drills, then technique broken down step by step, then putting it together with music, and finally freestyle or a short routine so you leave able to actually dance it. I focus on musicality, posture and confidence, not just memorizing steps. For Salsa and Bachata, I teach both lead and follow, so solo students and couples can both learn the partner work properly. For Hip-Hop and Urban Open Style, I build your grooves, foundations and freestyle. For Bollywood, I cover expressions, hand gestures and choreography, including custom routines for weddings, sangeets and performances.

Lesson length
Standard lessons are 60 minutes. Choreography and wedding routine sessions are 90 minutes.

Experience
I teach Latin, Street Latin and Ballroom at a Melbourne dance studio since 2024, with 60+ students across group and private classes. I trained in dance as part of my university degree, and I spent two years as president of Deakin University's dance club, teaching different styles in workshop format weekly
