About Ashley
I've always been writing, even from a very young age. My career officially started with writing SEO articles for clients over a decade ago. Since then, my career has grown to include multiple full-length, traditionally published non-fiction titles; appearances on over a dozen podcasts; a cameo on BBC Two's Uncanny; multiple magazine articles; and a residency in Spain.
In 2024, I was awarded my MFA with distinction from City, University of London (now City St George's, University of London). This is where I really learned to critically analyse work. My dissertation was a full-length fictionalised account of the impacts of generational trauma, told through three complex, interwoven timelines.
My work as a tutor started six years ago. What was once something I did for a bit of extra money turned out to be an innate skill that had been lying dormant. My approach is simple. You send me a bit of your work (or come to me with an idea). I read it. Then we talk about it: what you did well and where you can improve. I plan my lessons accordingly.
My goal is for you to learn how to think about your writing the way a writer does. I may present you with ideas, suggestions, thoughts, and yes, critiques, but at the end of the day, it is your writing, not mine. So let me help you write it.
If you appreciate a bit of tough-love and open dialogue then

Let's talk about your writing. Whatever it is.
My speciality is helping you learn to see your work through the eyes of a writer.
Some of my students have fully written stories and need a developmental edit to look for strengths and weaknesses.
Others prefer more structured lessons where we talk about character development, the flow of prose, character arc, and other very practical lessons.
Some students do well with a mix of both.
I can help you figure out which will work best for you.
I have over 5 years of tutoring experience and have led workshops in 4 countries.
