I follow a Science of Reading approach that is structured, explicit, and spiraled to ensure students build a strong foundation in phonological awareness, decoding, and fluency. In my K/1 classroom, I have utilized the UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) Foundations program, and I have seen remarkable progress in students’ reading growth, confidence, and engagement.
I’ve recently completed Associate Part 1 of the Orton-Gillingham (OG) training, a 50-hour course that focuses on supporting struggling readers through a multi-sensory, systematic, and individualized approach. *Please note: While I have completed the coursework, I am not yet OG Certified as I have not completed the practicum component.
In addition to OG training, I also hold certifications in: Kindergarten Specialist (Queen’s University), and Personalized Learning (University of Victoria) – focused on differentiation and inclusive practice.
