About Yining
Hi, I'm Yining — a native Mandarin (and Shanghainese) speaker currently completing a Master's in Teaching Chinese Language and Culture at University College Dublin. Before moving into teaching, I spent five years in China's publishing and library-education world, including editing children's picture books and running bilingual reading sessions for young learners — so if you're looking for lessons that are structured but never boring, that's exactly what I love building.
I teach learners of all levels and ages: conversational Mandarin for absolute beginners, exam-focused lessons (HSK, Leaving Cert Chinese), and playful, story-based classes for kids drawing on my picture-book background. My own MA research is on making Chinese more accessible for learners here in Ireland, so I'm always thinking about what actually helps — not just textbook drills.

I had hands-on classroom/library teaching experience in bilingual (Chinese–English) settings. Background spans corpus-based language pedagogy research, children's picture-book editing, and cross-cultural communication — bringing both academic grounding in CFL teaching methods and real experience designing materials for language learners. Native Mandarin and Shanghainese speaker; English C1 (EF certified).
