My teaching method is based on one-one/group using remote Zoom/MS teams globally.
I use a specialised software such as DIgSILENT Power-Factory, ETAP, PSCAD, Omicron Test Universe, Matlab, Multisim software and Excel spreadsheet calculations to solve electrical and electronic engineering, which helped many of my clients to ensure the calculated values are matched with software simulation results.

Find out more about Dr Melake

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed an interest whilst I was a college student when I used to help my classmates solving tutorial questions and clarifying lecture notes. Then, I was officially helping students during my university time and then started private tutoring along with my undergraduate studies in electrical engineering
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach electrical and electronic engineering with focus in electrical circuit analysis and power system studies. I like circuit analysis as it's funny but fundamental to more complex power systems.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

My college teacher was my inspiration for his dedication, simplification and patience.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Dedication, determination, documentation of resources, always learning
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

It has been already said that electricity is dangerous and most people are aware of it unless they accidentally touch it. If lucky they survive, if not goodbye to the world. How many birds are aware of this and how many of them could save their life if they were told.......?
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Due to numerous power system software tools, sometimes it costs a lot to have for every licence and if a student comes with a specific software requirement, an alternative solution is provided to meet his/her demand.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

At this time, I put my commitment into teaching and wait what the future holds.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P) ?

Becoming a superprof will hopefully allow me to meet the students who are really interested in my help and will be a good opportunity for me to expand my network.
