I have a solid teaching & mentoring experience (>10 years).
I completed my PhD studies in Electrical Power Network and specialised in power system protection and control system as applied in transmission and distribution system from The University of Manchester.
I am a Power Systems Engineer offering tutoring in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, with a strong focus on real-world applications.
I specialise in:

My teaching method is based on one-one/group using remote Zoom/MS teams globally.
I use a specialised software such as DIgSILENT Power-Factory, ETAP, PSCAD, Omicron Test Universe, Matlab, Multisim software and Excel spreadsheet calculations to solve electrical and electronic engineering, which helped many of my clients to ensure the calculated values are matched with software simulation results.

- Kayden (Lisa, his mom arranged this session) came up with a light sensor control system to activate during the night to prevent burglars. The circuit was initially built in the breadboard prototaybe and then simulation study was analysed using circuit wizard. He came up with a task to explore modelling & simulation studies on short circuit, fault level analysis techniques using DIgSILENT Power-Factory software package. This includes managing fault level using current limiting reactor, opening/closing CB, Network splitting. Excessive short circuit current can damage equipment and may cause whole system disturbances or blackout at the worst case. Hence, effective means of fault level management is essential to provide correct protection design, correct sizing of CB rating, maintain system stability, and good power quality. Melake has helped me so much in establishing from first principles the knowledge and understanding applicable in power system design and analysis. He supplemented his teaching with interesting first hand experiences and anecdotes that solidified the underpinning knowledge and made applications relevant. His influence has been a great help in a transition into the power systems field.
Dr. Melake is a great Tutor, He spent time with my Son on few Electrical Engineering and Math subjects and has tremendously improved my Son's understanding, not only this but even my Son motivation and critical thinking improved due to his Teaching techniques. Dr Melake lectured me in my BEng - Electrical and Electronic degree, he was always professional and helpful. Our time together was challenging, as took place during the onset of the pandemic however somehow overcome all the obstacles to support me in receiving a first class honours.
He was always happy to run through complex issues and break them down to allow basic principles to be understood before revisiting the question itself.
Overall a passionate and extremely professional member of the community, who I would have no issue recommending whatsoever.
Dr Melake, is a very knowledgeable teacher who always tries his best to keep the students following along and is very patient with everyone. He always answers questions in full and doesn't leave me feeling I don't understand. He's taught me for the last 2 year in high voltage power systems.
