About Fermin

Hello! My name is Fermin. I am a musician from Argentina. I graduated in Musical Arts and I attended several guitar courses. I have been a Music teacher in institution (University and Conservatory) for 10 years, and guitar for 12. I always liked working with all ages (childhood, adolescents, adults). I played on many stages, some big ones. These were very special experiences (what the stage gives you, nothing else gives you!). Besides music, I really enjoy the outdoors, especially cycling, and cold baths in the lakes! :)

  • 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I developed my passion for music, especially for the guitar, when I was 12 years old. I started taking lessons with a great tutor who was, and still is, an excellent songwriter. His creativity and musical sensitivity were really inspiring to me. Through those lessons, I discovered not only the instrument itself, but also the emotional and artistic power of music. Since then, music has become a central part of my life!
  • 2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

One artist I can listen to endlessly without getting tired is Robert Fripp. I deeply admire his approach to guitar playing, composition, and musical discipline. His work combines complexity, emotion, and experimentation in a very unique way. Every time I listen to his music, I discover new details and ideas. He has been a huge influence on both my musical taste and my artistic development.
  • 3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

One of the most challenging and fascinating courses I could give is about musical practice and the psychology of learning. I am very interested in how musicians build habits, develop discipline, and create meaningful artistic routines. The course would combine music theory, performance, and reflection on the learning process itself. I would also include ideas from music education research and my own experience as a performer. I believe understanding how we learn is as important as mastering technique.
  • 4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I think the viola is one of the most difficult instruments to truly master. It has a very subtle and complex sound that requires a deep level of control and musical sensitivity. Unlike more virtuosic instruments, the viola often plays an inner musical role, which demands great listening skills and ensemble awareness. Producing a beautiful tone consistently is extremely challenging. I also admire the emotional depth and richness that great violists can achieve.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

Consistency is probably the most important key to success for me. I strongly believe in trusting the process!! and understanding that meaningful results take time. In music, progress is rarely immediate, so patience and discipline are essential. I also think curiosity and openness to learning are very important qualities. Staying connected to the joy of music helps me remain motivated even during difficult moments.
  • 6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

I would love to share a long late-night conversation with Tomás Gubitsch, Diego Schissi, and Björk. Gubitsch inspires me because of his unique musical language and artistic freedom. Schissi’s work is deeply creative and connected to Argentine musical traditions in a contemporary way. Björk fascinates me for her originality and fearless artistic vision. I think listening to their stories and ideas would be unforgettable.
  • 7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

One of my favorite memories from music school was participating in the vocal ensemble at the conservatory. Learning and rehearsing vocal pieces together taught me the importance of listening carefully to others. It was a very intense and collaborative experience, where every voice mattered equally. Those rehearsals helped me understand music as a collective practice rather than an individual performance. I still remember the feeling of connection during concerts and group rehearsals.
  • 8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

Teaching music is not only my profession, but also my life project. I have a strong theoretical background and I do research on music learning and musical practice. At the same time, I actively work as a guitarist with many different artists, which allows me to connect teaching with real professional experience!! I try to adapt my lessons to each student’s interests and goals. My objective is to help students develop both technical skills and a deeper musical understanding.
