My Teaching Approach & Learning Structure

I believe learning music should be enjoyable, well-organised, and focused on real progress. My classes follow a structured, step-by-step approach that helps students build strong musical foundations while gradually developing the confidence to play or sing independently.

Every student begins at a different level, so I focus on understanding their current abilities, learning pace, and musical interests. Lessons are planned with clear objectives, ensuring that each new skill builds naturally on what they have already learned.

Balancing Technique with Enjoyment

Rather than focusing only on exercises or theory, I combine essential musical techniques with practical, interesting activities and familiar songs. This helps students understand not just *what* they are learning, but *how to use it* in real music.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

I believe real progress comes from what students practise between lessons. Along with two live classes every week, I provide structured practice guidance, learning resources, class recordings, and personalised feedback to help students practise effectively and avoid developing incorrect habits.

Consistent Progress Tracking

I regularly review each student's development, identify areas that need improvement, and adjust the learning approach accordingly. Parents also receive progress updates, giving them a clearer understanding of their child's musical development.

Building Independent Musicians

My long-term goal is not simply to teach students to reproduce songs. I want them to develop musical understanding, listening skills, rhythm, technique, and the confidence to explore music independently. Students interested in formal qualifications can also receive guidance towards international music examinations.
