About Shira
I am a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto studying experimental quantum optics. I'm currently working on the construction of optical atomic clocks for fundamental physics investigations. I received my Bachelor's in physics at York University where I worked on trapping micro-particles with optical tweezers. I received my PhD in physics at the University of Toronto where I worked on a compact two-photon optical clock for field-based applications. I have also worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Toronto facilitating guided, interactive group problem-solving sessions and leading practical laboratory experiments for undergraduate physics students.

I provide targeted tutorials to high school and university students in physics and math with an emphasis on big-picture understanding of material and placing material in the greater context of the overall subject. I aim to provide intuitive understanding of physics and underlying relationships in math. My students should not just know how to do math and physics - they should understand it too!
