About Grug
I am primarily a writer, working in both Welsh and English, and writing mostly poetry and essays.
However, I have long had a love for learning languages, although I don't think I amparticularly good at it, I have enjoyed studying Spanish, Czech, and Arabic at different times (although by now Spanish is the only language I have any competance in).
I have spent the last 6 years working on my PhD in Welsh literature, which I finally completed last summer, having studied Politics before then. I know live in mid-Wales, and work freelance as an editor, facilitator and writer.

For A Level and GCSE students, my approach is shaped by my experience as a creative practitioner in schools, and as a teaching assistant at university level. I can follow your school curriculum, supporting with language and grammar, as well as helping you develop your critical reading skills, untangling poetry, and demystifying set texts. My aim is to concentrate support on the areas that the student wants to focus on the most.
For adult learners, my approach is shaped by my own experience learning Spanish, Czech and Arabic, and my passion for literature and music. I believe in the importance of bringing music, literature and culture into the lesson, and using them as a jumping off point for developing vocabulary, practicing reading skills, and building confidence in speaking.
