About Lewis
I have 4 years’ experience, providing 700 hours of online tuition (and a further 300 hours in the classroom) to more than 30 students. My academic background in mathematics is strong, including:
- University: PhD student and first-class mathematics graduate from the University of Sheffield;
- A-levels: A* in A-level Mathematics and A in AS-level Further Mathematics;
- GCSEs: 9 in GCSE Mathematics, A in GCSE Statistics and A in GCSE Physics.
I also have an Enhanced DBS check which I can provide on request, as well as any qualifications.

My approach to tuition is centred around the needs of each student; everyone has different strengths and weaknesses, so I tailor my tutoring accordingly. In general, I will ask students about the topics they are struggling with in advance, and a typical session would begin with me recapping these. As practice is so important in mathematics, I usually spend the majority of each session working through practice questions with students to ensure full understanding.

Perfect! Lewis is honestly a god send - he is super patient, friendly and always accommodates to whatever I want to learn in the session/how I'm feeling. I'm able to send him questions in advance, or he will bring some questions to the sessions to assess my knowledge. He is knowledgeable upto degree level, so can always add some additional context to concepts, which is always nice to hear. He is also highly personable, and genuinely cares about how I feel about my revision and offers advice. Would highly recommend Lewis to anyone learning A Level maths!

Lewis is SUPER helpful! I’ve never been good at maths but I understand it so much more now because of him. Lewis is great at explaining, patient, and very encouraging.
