About Marcus
I am an easy-going and attentive listener when it comes to teaching mathematics. My favourite topics to teach are anything from simple algebra and calculus, to more advanced concepts such as imaginary numbers, Taylor&Maclaurin series and matrix algebra. I can also teach a wide variety of statistics, I am currently majoring in Stochastic processes in my PhD.
I struggled during my first couple months of A-level maths, where a lot of new concepts are usually introduced. But, I made use of exercises and practiced my own methods so as to form a solid understanding of the content. Having someone there to explain why we use certain methods and how we can adapt them is important when trying to tackle challenging problems.
I have a 1st class Master's degree, an A in A-level Maths and an A* in GCSE Maths and Physics. I am currently a 1st year PhD student doing Maths at the University of Leeds. I have 3 months experience tutoring A-level maths during 2019 in the summer. I also have experience in Python coding.
If you are interested in going to University to study Maths or another STEM subject, don't hesitate to ask for advice about the level of content, or application process! I am always happy to help.

I aim to take your mathematics to the next level using tailored lessons structured around your weak points, and around other key areas crucial to getting the higher end marks on your assessments. I have experience typesetting exam style questions and short assessments, which we can use to practice key concepts we will learn throughout the lessons. This is a great way to track progress, and to make sure you are getting your money's worth! I myself have struggled with new concepts, particularly in further maths, years ago. So I understand it can be frustrating sometimes when you can't seem to get the help you need to get over the next hurdle. I will be able to answer any questions or queries in all areas of mathematics so do not be afraid to ask for help!
The lessons can be up to 2 hours long (or longer on request) and can be delivered in person or online with a webcam. Evening or weekend lessons are preferable as I am still a full-time student.
My lessons are for anybody of any age wanting to strengthen their ability in GCSE, AS-level or A level mathematics. Whether you want to get a head start on the school year, want to consolidate previous content, or just generally improve, we can tailor lessons to your specific needs to get you where you want to be!

I struggled doing my Maths on the lead up to my GCSE's, Marcus helped me understand the questions in a way that my teacher didn't! He worked through with me slowly until I understood what was being asked and then I could work out what I needed to do. Basically Marcus was very patient and his way of explaining helped me greatly.
