About Katie
I tutored engineering and science students in calculus for over two years as a junior/senior level biomedical engineering major while at The City College of New York , and also have many years of experience mentoring younger students in a laboratory space from my time as a PhD candidate at Boston University. I also spent two semesters as a TA at BU, hosting both weekly discussion sections with 30+ students and small group/one-on-one office hours for a mid-level biomechanics course, which is also math and concept heavy. I take a very fundamental approach to my teaching, trying to explain the "why" of each step in a complicated process/problem, not just stressing the final result.

I started succeeding in my calculus courses once I determined the best way for me personally to learn, which isn't always the same way your professor teaches. And that's okay! As a tutor, I am flexible to help you find the way that YOU like to learn, and then we can build from there. I have exstensive experience with 1st and 2nd year engineering students who are passionate about their degree, but haven't quite figured out how to tackle their difficult calculus classes. I'm happy to help you take calculus from a class you dread to one you mark as an easy A each semester!
