About Tiffany

I know firsthand how discouraging school can feel when something just isn’t clicking. Throughout elementary and middle school, I struggled academically, especially in math. The patience and encouragement of my teachers and tutors made a lasting difference in my life—and inspired my love for tutoring.

For the past eight years, I’ve helped students strengthen their understanding, build confidence, and feel more motivated in school. I also work with children with special needs and have extensive experience supporting students with learning disabilities. I tailor my approach to each student’s strengths, challenges, and learning needs, creating a patient, encouraging environment where they can feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.

Everyone learns differently. Sometimes a concept needs to be explained several ways before it makes sense, and I’m happy to work patiently until we find an approach that connects.

One of the most rewarding parts of tutoring is watching students discover what they’re capable of. I’ve helped students improve from D’s and F’s to A’s and B’s while becoming more engaged in their learning. One student I began working with near the end of his third quarter brought his grades up from D’s and F’s to passing C’s, then earned all A’s and B’s the following quarter. Sharing that excitement with him and his parents was incredibly meaningful.

Having struggled myself, I understand the frustration of falling behind and the relief of finally understanding. My goal is to help each student feel supported, work through challenges, and recognize their progress. Those little “light bulb” moments are why I love what I do.

Before starting with a new student, I speak with their parent or caregiver to learn about their strengths, challenges, and goals. We discuss which subjects are difficult, how long they’ve been struggling, and any learning differences or accommodations that would help me support them.

During the school year, I use homework as an opportunity to strengthen understanding and build independent learning skills. I guide students through their assignments, asking questions and explaining concepts rather than providing answers. As we work together, I identify areas that may need additional support, such as reading comprehension, problem-solving, or foundational skills.

During the summer, I offer practice using workbooks, worksheets, or a combination of both, depending on the student’s needs and the family’s preferences. Sessions can focus on strengthening foundational skills, reviewing previous material, or preparing for the next school year.

I have worked with students who are several grade levels behind, those who need occasional support, and advanced learners seeking an additional challenge. My experience includes supporting autistic students with a range of support needs, students with ADD/ADHD and learning disabilities, and students with IEPs or 504 plans. I adapt my explanations and pace to help each student learn in a way that works for them.

Above all, I want students to feel comfortable with me. Parents’ confidence matters, but so does the student’s connection with their tutor. I strive to create a welcoming space where students feel heard, ask questions freely, and feel comfortable making mistakes as they learn.

My standard rate is $60 per hour. This includes personalized instruction, session preparation, parent communication, and ongoing support between lessons.

Students may text me brief homework questions between sessions, and I respond as my schedule allows. Questions requiring a longer explanation can be reviewed during our next lesson. With parent permission and appropriate access, I also periodically review grades and missing assignments to help students stay on track and identify areas where they need support.

Making tutoring accessible is personal to me. In high school, I paid for my own tutoring while earning $12 an hour at work, and my tutor charged $30 an hour. I understand firsthand how challenging it can be to afford academic support.

If my standard rate is outside your family’s budget, please feel comfortable reaching out. I’m open to discussing session length, frequency, or a reduced rate when available to find an arrangement that works for both of us.
