About Lauren
My undergraduate science education degree at the University of Denver included a full minor in Mathematics covering statistics, college algebra, and pre-calculus. I have been tutoring math for 4 years across grade levels from elementary school through college first year. I am especially comfortable working with students who have math anxiety — my calm, unhurried style has helped many students who gave up on math find their footing again. In 2023, I helped a high school sophomore raise her algebra II grade from a D to a B+ over one semester of weekly sessions. I also assisted a college freshman through her introductory statistics course at the University of Denver — she had no prior statistics background and finished the course with a solid B. I use Desmos, Khan Academy, and custom practice sets in my sessions, and I am always happy to work through your actual class assignments alongside the core concepts.

I know math can feel overwhelming — and I know what it is like to stare at a problem and have absolutely no idea where to start. That feeling is exactly why I became a math tutor. My lessons are slow, steady, and always judgment-free. We go at your pace, we celebrate every small win, and we never move on until you actually feel confident — not just sort of okay. I start every new student with a friendly, low-pressure check-in to understand where they feel comfortable and where things start to get fuzzy. Then we build from that exact spot — no skipping ahead, no assuming you know something we have not covered together. I use real-world examples for everything because abstract math is hard, but math that connects to something you care about suddenly makes a lot more sense. For K–12 students I cover arithmetic, fractions, decimals, ratios, pre-algebra, algebra I and II, geometry, and trigonometry. For high school and early college students I teach pre-calculus, limits, and introductory calculus — derivatives, integrals, and their applications. For statistics, my lessons walk through descriptive statistics, probability, distributions, the Central Limit Theorem, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, t-tests, and regression analysis — with real data examples that make the concepts tangible and memorable. I am also well-practiced in SAT and ACT math prep — I know exactly which concepts those tests love to target, and I make sure my students are ready for every one of them. Whatever math is stressing you out right now, bring it to our session. We will work through it together, one clear step at a time.
