About Isla
With over 14 years of experience teaching piano, I specialize in helping college students unlock their full musical potential. My teaching style is student-centered, focusing on individual strengths and learning styles. I use a mix of traditional methods and innovative techniques to make lessons engaging and effective. Whether it’s classical, jazz, or pop, I guide students through every step, helping them build strong foundations while encouraging creativity and self-expression. My goal is to not only teach students to play but to foster a deep passion for music that lasts a lifetime.

My teaching methodology is centered around creating a positive, inclusive, and adaptive learning environment that caters to each student's unique needs and background. For piano lessons, I focus on cultural sensitivity, ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds feel valued and supported. I believe in a problem-solving approach, where I guide students through challenges and help them develop critical thinking skills to overcome obstacles in their musical journey.
I encourage open-mindedness, allowing students to explore different genres such as classical, jazz, pop, R&B, and more. This enables them to discover their own musical voice and expand their knowledge.
For subjects outside of piano, I apply the same principles, emphasizing practical understanding and critical thinking. My approach includes clear explanations, real-world connections, and fostering a growth mindset, encouraging students to view challenges as opportunities for growth.
By combining these strategies, I aim to make learning enjoyable, effective, and enriching, helping students not only master the subject but also develop a lifelong passion for it.
