About Aditi

Hey! I’m Aditi and I’m here to make you love music as much as I do! I started learning piano at age 5 and violin age 10 through school. Through the years I participated in Certificate of Merit (CM), passing all 10 levels, and performing at National Guild contests. I started teaching around 7 years ago and have loved every moment.

My professional experience is in Psychology and Data Science, focusing on how different minds process complex information. Through college, I took several cool music classes like Physics in Music, Music Cognition, and Digital Music Production. I was a part of a college South Asian music fusion group as a vocalist and pianist, and I taught piano and violin at after-school programs and privately. If you can’t tell by now, I really like music!

I specialize in an approach that prioritizes both technical precision and creative joy. By integrating custom games, I transform abstract theory into intuitive play, ensuring my students build a good foundation without the burnout of traditional rote learning. Whatever your goal may be, I provide a structured environment where every breakthrough is celebrated.

I specialize in teaching youth, emphasizing building passion for music over memorizing theory. My approach balances technical discipline with student-led discovery. I have taught for over 7 years and been a student of music for much longer, and through my experience, I have honed methods to facilitate content internalization and engagement.

As far as curriculum goes, I combine standard method and theory books with pieces chosen by the student to keep motivation high. Every lesson includes a mix of sight reading, ear training, and sound recognition to ensure students can practice these skills early on.

Learning has to be fun! I have developed a variety of activities to go with lessons. For example, one of the activities is a grocery store where each item costs a certain note/rest value. And using their note/rest money, they can purchase items. Not only does it reinforce rhythm concepts but math as well.

How a typical lesson goes:
1. Technical Warm-up (10 mins): We start with "finger gymnastics" (scales, chords, or Hanon) focusing on posture and relaxed wrists to prevent fatigue.
2. Theory Lab (10-15 mins): This is where we play a game or complete a custom worksheet.
3. Core Repertoire (25 mins): We dive into current pieces. We isolate difficult measures, apply "rhythm variations" to fix stumbling blocks, and work on dynamics/expression.
4. Improv/Review (5-10 mins): We end with a "free play" session or a quick review of the week's goals to ensure the student feels confident for home practice.
